Time. That is all that is needed to write great website content, the willingness to spend time on it. In the 13 years I have been working on websites, this has been true over and over. The people that spend the time to write content are able to write great content and the people that do it too quickly (or not at all) write poor content.
A few things to consider as you set aside time to write:
- Why are you writing?
- What are you writing?
- Who are you writing to?
- How long do you need to set aside to write something that is compelling and helpful to your intended audience?
Now that you have an idea of what you need to write and how long it will take, open your calendar and block off that time by setting an appointment. This next step is important. When it’s time to write, you must turn off all notifications, wifi, TV, radio, heat (wait, not the heat), and just write. If you don’t guard the time it will escape from you and that website content will be delayed yet another day. Book your writing time as a meeting and then write. Take the time. It will be amazing when you do!
